seems like its been quite awhile.
was quite excited when i knew i could come online
(thru my couzin's comp)
but when i finally did, I stumbled upon a depressing sight.
forget it.
was talking to wayne
and somehow i came to the realisation,
that things are not as apparent as they may seem.
things change; people change.
so wad i would like to talk about today is the V sign(done with our fingers),
the symbol which appears so frequently in neoprints.
there are currently a few well-known purposes it beholds:
1) to act cute in photos
2) to declare victory
3) often interpreted as a Satanic symbol
2) How did the idea of using the V sign to declare victory originate from?
It was said, that during the medieval ages, in times of war, the archers were often most feared by the meelee troops, who acted as a shield for THEIR archers. So, they soon had a strong belief: if the army could reach in as far as the enemies archers, kill them off, and cut off the two fingers which was used in archery, victory was sure to follow suit. And that is how it came about, to be used as a symbol of victory.
3) How is the simple and commonly used V sign a Satanic symbol?
If you have read my previous post, and entered the websites, you would know that the V sign is a roman symbol for the number 5. It is believed that 5 is the symbol of Satan. That's why the 5 sided-star, or the pentagon, are symbols which are often related to Satan.
